Outcome-Based Education

Print Temp files
The implementation of Outcome-Based Education has started at UniMAP in 2006, albeit with minimum understanding of the concept.  However, it provided the University with the necessary foundation on which the Continual Quality Improvements (CQI) can be implemented upon.
The overall CQI process, university wide changes and updates, have been implemented a few times, the major ones being in 2010 and recently in 2011.  These major changes were implemented largely to fulfil the accreditation requirements by the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) through Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC).
The implementation of OBE at the School of Mechatronic Engineering covers all aspects of OBE, namely:
* Planning
* Implementation
* Assessments / Evaluations
* Continual Quality Improvement (CQI)

Programme Educational Outcomes (PEO):
Programme Educational Objectives are broad statements that describe the career and professional accomplishments that the programme is preparing graduates to achieve.
Programme Outcomes (PO):
Programme Outcomes are narrower statements that describe what students are expected to know and be able to do by the time of graduation. These relate to the skills, knowledge, and behaviours that students acquire in their matriculation through the program.
Course Outcomes (CO)
The definition used for the course Outcomes are narrower statements made of Performance Criteria which describe what students are expected to know and be able to do at the end of the course.
