In line with the country’s aspiration to enhance research and development in our country, UniMAP is proactively initiating programs and events that would encourage and enhance the learning and research capabilities among the students. The initiative taken by School of Mechatronic Engineering UniMAP in enhancing the technical and communication skills for the students is by introducing the Integrated Design Project (IDP). A group of students (4-5 students per team) had been working on project from predetermined scenarios with the guidance from mentors. The students were required to propose a suitable solution to the real world problems presented based on technical, economic and sustainability considerations.
At the end of their project work, the students participated in the ‘IDP Day 2016’ organized by school of mechatronic engineering to compete for the best design award by showcasing their prototypes. The panels invited evaluated the presentation skills of the presenter as well as the suitability of their design to the problems proposed. The best design award was presented to the each of the winners, from Mechatronic, Mechanical and Biomedical Electronic Engineering programs respectively.
